Stream Restoration

LEBANON, KENTUCKY

ECSI was contracted to develop design plans for the restoration and relocating of two streams located within the permit boundary of a Lebanon, Kentucky quarry. The purpose of the design plan was to allow for additional limestone to be mined on the east side of the existing permit as well as reconstruct a stream segment on the west side of the existing mining area. ECSI gathered field data to ascertain the hydrologic and geomorphic characteristics of the streams including upstream and downstream reference reaches and used said data to develop stream relocation and restoration designs using natural stream design techniques for the 1163 feet of stream on the west side of the site and 2172 feet of stream on the east side. Upon completion of the design plan, ECSI assisted the client with preparation and submittal of a USACE 404 Permit Application and Kentucky Division of Water 401 Water Quality Certification Application.
