ECSI was retained to evaluate approximately 1,000 acres of land which was previously home to a coal preparation operation in Corbin, Kentucky. The property was evaluated for construction potential and suitability for various types of industrial commercial uses, including warehousing, factories, storage and recreational use. The site is now home to the Southeast Kentucky Regional Business Park, hosting a number of businesses including Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and CTA Acoustics. The industrial park provided a boost to the local economy through job creation and an increased tax base. Stakeholders and the local government were pleased with the completed site, as it has enhanced the previously mined and unreclaimed land and the local economy.
