Steve Gardner and ECSI recently helped ACEC conduct reviewer training at the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet's DNR. Training was held for permit reviewers and others on the mining industry and consulting perspectives. Training included the history of mining, mining methods(underground and surface),reclamation and post mining land uses, preparation and coal refuse disposal.
Strata Mine Services retained ECSI to design seals under the Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) and under the final ruling. Strata with the assistance of ECSI received approval of a seal under the ETS.

ECSI will host its 4th Annual Mountaintop Classic at Raven Rock Golf Course in Jenkins, Kentucky, on Friday, September 18, 2009.
